Description

Head out of town towards the N-630, the backbone and reference of the Route, which you will reach in Santa Olalla. From there, continue along the road up and down hills dotted with holm oak.

The Route now enters Extremadura and the hillsides start to become bare of trees, being covered by grazing land and farmland for cereal crops. The livestock now becomes sheep and cattle.

Near km 40, you turn right towards Montemolín, with the Almohad Moorish fortress as your point of reference. After cycling between the castle and the village, head back to the N-630.

Pass Fuente de Cantos and Calzadilla de los Barros before turning left at km 75 towards Puebla de Sancho Pérez to avoid traffic on the main road to Cordoba.

In the village, turn right after the level crossing. There is no signposting here. After passing Zafra and Los Santos de Maimona, you take the N-630 once more.

If you do not want to stop for a break, at km 75 you can continue along the N-630, on a quiet, wide stretch of road. You will now find yourself on the plains of the Guadiana Valley, where vineyards abound. In recent years, the wines of this area have achieved high levels of quality under the Ribera del Guadiana regulated Designation of Origin (DO) label.

The stage ends in Villafranca de los Barros.
